The sounds of the camera filled her ears, along with the sounds of the town. This was for her own portfolio for one of her classes. Alice Merik had three passions in life. Music, art and photography. Right now she was lost in taking pictures of the people that pass, making sure the dim light was right and that she got the shots she wanted. There was so much life here.
People passed by from her seat on the bench. She was just looking at the world through the lens of her camera. If she didn't love it so much, she might have been jealous of the people she took pictures of. They all seemed to have plans. All seemed to know where they were going and how they were going to get there. The small thing sitting cross-legged, did have a clue. She knew she wanted to do photojournalism and knew she had a job waiting for her once her internship was over and she had graduated. But she didn't have a direction beyond that. Where would she be in the next five years? What would she be doing? Though most importantly would she be happy. Her entire childhood was all about what others wanted for her. She seemed lost without someone guiding her and with broken wings, she was learning to fly on her own...for once.
A smile grew on her face as she noticed an older couple walking hand in hand. She couldn't resist taking a picture of them. They seemed so happy. She could feel that emotion coming from them. She hoped she could be like that when she grew to that age. Raising her camera to her eye, she looked at the couple. Her finger focused the camera lens. *click* She got the shot she wanted. A smile crossed her face as she got up from the bench. It was time to head back to her uncle’s house. Darkness was falling and the people were clearing out of the park. Grabbing her bag she lifted it over her shoulder and started walking home.
